Why Do I Do Anything with Any Other Game?
I know a few of you were paying attention during Sean's latest Saturday stream wherein I commented about how I had worn a D&D T-shirt to a party and, as a result, had agreed to run a D&D game for four men of my age who never have played before. This is the shirt I was wearing at the party. "Nice shirt," were the first words from a guy whom I was just meeting. Well, while preparing for it now, I face a number of choices. What , specifically, to run? How to run? What experience do I hope to provide for them, and what experience do I believe they are anticipating? Well, I know I'm not going to run the "current" version of D&D (or any of its offshoots or imitators). Not only do I have no interest in this, I don't think I can do it justice. I'm also not going to run a "not-D&D," derivative or otherwise, and tell my players that it's actually D&D or that it's "better" than D&D. I believe that, whatever...
